When I got the call from Cheryl, I was almost as excited as she was- would I come out to her and Brooke’s favourite city, Barcelona, and photograph their wedding in the Gothic Quarter? I think I said yes before Cheryl had finished speaking. I’m so lucky and fortunate to get to travel to shoot, but what’s more special is that my couples are so much fun. I first saw a trixi bike, 10 of which would be ferrying everyone to and from the beautiful Santa Anna church (There are only 10 in all of the city), the night before their big day and practised hopping in and out of one. I can honestly say that exiting a moving a trixi in a packed square to grab photos, in front of the Cathedral of Barcelona, is a life highlight. Cheryl and Brooke were amazing for the whole weekend, making me feel part of their celebrations (Cocktails and canapes party the following night in El Born was awesome) and I was honoured to be given the opportunity to document events. Here is part one- Brooke anxiously waits for his bride to make the journey through the crowds (whilst avoiding a British photographer looking suspiciously like me who’s hanging out of the back of a trixi. Amazing). Huge thanks to Mark Hammett for second shooting with me on the day. Your pink gingham has never looked more at home than in Barcelona. Dave x
