Sometimes when photographing weddings, you get bright sunny days, sometimes you get cloudy days. Most of the time in the UK, the sun and clouds mix all day and you chase the light, try and play with the shadows. For Katie and Ben this past weekend, the weather decided to be misty. The mist descended at some point over night, and never left- and it looked sublime. Katie and Ben had chosen Peterborough Cathedral and Stapleford Park as their venues for their big day- both of which, when paired with the mist, proved to be a very inspirational set of backdrops for me to work with. It was a beautiful day, and my first wedding with Pollen Designs on floral duty (stunning work Rebecca) and Katie’s dress was an utterly gorgeous Suzanne Neville gown from Stamford Bridal. With the awesome atmosphere of friends and family celebrating, culminating in the loudest fireworks display I have heard this side of the millenium- it was no trouble for me to lie down on the grass at Stapleford to get the best angle for the shot, as the lights and bangs lit up the misty landscape. I didnt mind the mud in my pocket and as I send my jacket off to the dry cleaners to be packed away for next season, I look back on an amazing year with my heart full and my ears slightly ringing. Thank you for having me guys it was an honour for me to be part of your celebrations. David
